Overview

Images of Hayman Island

HAYMAN ISLAND has re-opened!! is the most northern island in the Whitsunday Island group. Renowned for its elegance, service and superior location in the Great Barrier Reef, Hayman is a unique 5-star resort.

The Island: You'll love exploring Hayman. 400 hectares in area and 8 kilometres in circumference, its tallest peak stands 250 metres above sea level. Other islands and the mainland can be seen from Hayman and are accessible by boat or yacht. Hayman offers a feast for your eyes on any one of the many bushwalks into the rugged natural landscape and takes you to idyllic deserted beaches. A magnificent range of flora, fauna and marine life is found in this beautiful environment, all of which is protected against damage or removal, as Hayman is within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Beyond the beach lies a coral reef, 800 metres wide, which fronts the southern half of the island. The reef becomes exposed at low tide and is covered by up to 4 metres of water at high tide. Abounding in lush, tropical growth, encircled with white sandy beaches and surrounded by coral reefs and warm waters, this island will give you a holiday to remember long after you have left it. The finest island resort accommodation.

The Resort: Hayman is a resort like no other. Situated around a crescent-shaped, white, sandy bay on the south western side, the resort is the only facility on the island. The buildings have been designed to blend in with the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Throughout the resort, shady ponds and gentle waterfalls thread their way among beautiful gardens, spacious walkways and open-air lanais. Come and bask in Hayman's tropical climate, with its warm days and relaxed atmosphere. Throughout summer the weather becomes warm and sultry, with January traditionally being the warmest month. You may need a light jacket or sweater for the evenings in winter, especially in July, which is traditionally the coolest month. With its superb accommodation, restaurants and bars, gardens and pools, no part of the resort is taller than four stories and most guest rooms, restaurants and other public areas are situated in two wings.

Romance and pleasure await you on Hayman. At night, your private balcony becomes the setting for an intimate candlelight dinner. Enjoy superb service, fine food and music in Hayman's outstanding international restaurants. During the day, a relaxed, casual mood is enjoyed, so beachwear is welcomed at The Beach Pavilion and by the pools. Hayman's evening restaurants invite smart, casual dress. A jacket is required for gentlemen in La Fontaine.

Hayman offers diverse meeting facilities, a chapel for weddings or the reaffirmation of vows and christenings, a health retreat, beauty salon and children's activities centre. The Marine Centre operates Reef cruises, fishing, a PADI-accredited Dive Centre, helicopter and seaplane flights. Island activities include cultural and dining tours and extensive sporting options.
