ITINERARY

Day 1: Hobart
On arrival at Hobart airport (flight not included) you will be met and transferred* to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore Hobart, a city with a unique blend of heritage, scenery and a surprisingly vibrant culture.
Overnight Stay: Hobart 

Day 2: Hobart – Strahan (FB,D)
Travel to Mt Field National Park, one of Tasmania’s most popular National Parks. Stroll through lush rainforest to the stunning Russell Falls before continuing to Lake St Clair, Australia’s deepest natural freshwater lake. Continue to the copper mining town of Queenstown where you will board the Included famous West Coast Wilderness Railway for your journey through pristine forest to Strahan.
Two Night Stay: Strahan

Day 3: Strahan (FB,L)
This morning board the Lady Jane Franklin II for your Included cruise through breathtaking World Heritage listed wilderness. Take in the views from your guaranteed window seat as you cruise breathtaking Macquarie Harbour to Hells Gate, where the harbour meets the ocean. Travel along the serene Gordon River and visit Heritage Landing for a guided walk through the rainforest amongst trees thousands of years old. Your journey continues with a visit to Sarah Island, where your expert guide will regale you with stories of the convicts’ lives on the island as you walk through the settlement ruins. This evening enjoy your Included performance by the local theatre group of the dramatic and true story of an amazing escape from Sarah Island in the tale of ‘The Ship That Never Was’.

Day 4: Strahan – Cradle Mountain (FB,D)

Depart Strahan and journey through rugged wilderness to the stunning alpine scenery of World Heritage listed Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park. Join your local guide as you travel to beautiful Dove Lake and visit Waldheim Chalet.
Included SCENIC FREE CHOICE choose from: (1) Guided walk; or (2) Waldheim Spa; or (3) Wine and cheese tasting; or (4) Guided native night life tour; or (5) Picnic hamper.

Day 5: Cradle Mountain – Smithton (FB,D)
Enjoy the scenic drive to Stanley, a quaint English village nestled at the foot of the towering volcanic core, ‘The Nut’. Visit the Included historic grazing property of Woolnorth and enjoy a guided tour of Tasmania’s largest wind farm. Stop at Cape Grim, situated on the tip of the rugged west coast.
Overnight Stay: Smithton

Day 6: Smithton – Launceston (FB,HD)
This morning treat your taste buds with your Included visit to the delightful Anvers Chocolate Factory to sample and view the chocolate making process up close. Continue to the quaint town of Sheffield, where you will have some free time to explore the many spectacular street murals. This afternoon visit the Ashgrove Cheese Factory and learn how cheese is traditionally made from this nationally-acclaimed producer. Continue to Launceston to the famous Cataract Gorge Reserve and enjoy your Included ride on the world’s longest single span chairlift before exploring the wonderful scenery along the network of walking trails.

Two Night Stay: Launceston

Day 7: Launceston (FB,L)

This afternoon enjoy your Included visit to the Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company. See their products being made, sample their delicious range of locally made sauces, jams and conserves and enjoy a tour of their renowned gardens and topiary nursery, the largest of its kind in Tasmania.

Day 8: Launceston – Bicheno (FB,D)
Your journey continues to Tasmania’s spectacular east coast. Visit Bridestowe Lavender Farm, the largest and oldest lavender plantation in the southern hemisphere (note: lavender is in bloom December and January only). Visit St Helens and continue to Freycinet National Park, noted for its spectacular coastal scenery of striking cliffs, sheltered bays and pristine beaches. This evening, enjoy your Included guided tour of a private fairy penguin colony and watch as they return from a day’s fishing (colony numbers may vary).
Overnight Stay: Bicheno

Day 9: Bicheno – Port Arthur (FB,D)
This morning travel to the Tasman Peninsula and stop to admire the spectacular geological rock formations, the Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen, before heading to the Port Arthur Historic Site. Explore the ruins of this once notorious penal settlement with your expert guide on your Included walking tour and cruise around the harbour to witness the Isle of the Dead. Then continue to the Comfort Inn, the only hotel in the historic site overlooking the ruins.

Day 10: Port Arthur (FB)
