The only one of the Pacific islands actually in Australia (the island is part of New South Wales), this unique paradise is capped by two tremendous rainforest covered volcanic peaks, often shrouded in cloud.
Just 11 kilometres long and less than 2 kilometres across and renowned as one of the world's most beautiful islands, Lord Howe was awarded World Heritage listing in recognition of its lush forests of Banyan Trees and Kentia Palms, more than 130 species of migratory birds and teaming marine life on the world's most southerly coral reef.
Your holiday will begin with a short flight from Sydney or Brisbane. On arrival, you will be one of only 400 visitors permitted on the island at the same time, ensuring that this is the perfect relaxing getaway.
Lord Howe Island offers a truly extraordinary environment and a range of activities including swimming and fish-feeding in the crystal clear waters of Ned's Beach, snorkelling and scuba diving on a reef that is home to more than 90 different types of coral and 500 species of fish, observing the Green Turtles at Old Settlement Beach and rainforest treks including the all day guided climb of Mount Gower.
You can cycle around the island or hire a car and take a leisurely tour at the 25km per hour maximum speed limit.
Bird watching is best from November to March and fishing from the jetty or on a game boat is good all year round. Other activities include tennis and lawn bowls.

Passport and Visa: Not required, accommodation and return travel must be confirmed.
Climate: Sub-tropical (averaging 25°C in Summer and 19°C in Winter).
Clothing: Dress is casual by day and smart casual by night. We recommend you include a warm sweater or jacket, walking shoes and a torch for evening walks.
Time Zone: Lord Howe Island is ½ hour ahead of Australian EST (no time difference during daylight savings).
Currency: Australian dollar, Commonwealth and Westpac agencies, credit cards widely accepted (note, there are no ATM facilities).
Transport: Your accommodation hosts operate mini buses for airport transfers. All traffic is subject to a 25kph speed limit. There is limited car hire. Bikes are a popular way of getting around the island and bike hire is available from most properties.
Electricity: 240v same as Australia.
Tax: Tourist levy pre-payable with airfare.
