Vatulele Island
Vatulele is a secluded tropical island set on a magnificent lagoon defined by white sandy beaches, natural beauty, casual luxury and absolute relaxation. The island measures 12 square miles in size and is one of the southern islands of the Fijian group.
Fiji Fast Facts
- Climate: Fiji is warm and tropical. Winters average 26ºC from May to October. Refreshing tropical rains can occur anytime, but December to March is the hot summer wet season, averaging 30ºC.
- Time Zone: Fiji is two hours ahead of Australian EST.
- Currency: Local currency is the Fijian Dollar 1AUD = 1.2FJD (Apr 06). You will find banks in major towns and credit cards are widely accepted. ATMs accept Visa and MasterCard with limited EFTPOS available (please check with your bank). Travellers cheques are accepted by larger stores and many hotels accept Australian dollars.
- Languages: Fiji is an English speaking country although the two major Fijian and Indian communities have their own language.
- Vaccinations: Pre-travel vaccinations are not required, but you should consult your doctor about your personal requirements before travelling.
- Electricity: 220 volts - same plug as Australia.
- Departure Tax: A departure tax of FJ$30 is included in your ticket.
- Visa: Australian passport holders do not require a visa. Proof of onward travel is required.
